It may be the middle of the year for many of you. Students are returning from an extended winter break. They are excited to see their friends and to be getting back into a routine. As teachers, we often rely on the hope that they have successfully achieved comprehension and retained the content learned in 1st Semester Physics. However, in reality there may be students that are not up to speed with the required content. As we begin 2nd Semester, it is often in our best interest and the best interest of our students to take the time to analyze what content would be valuable to review or "re-cover" either before moving on or by weaving old material in with the new as we move forward. By taking these measures to ensure success, we will be setting everyone up for a rewarding 2nd semester of physics!
This module will lead the teacher through the processes of:
Identifying critical material that needs to be reviewed or re-taught
Making use of 1st semester assessments to make informed decisions about mastery of material
Designing and effectively incorporating meaningful methods of review
Designing and effectively implemeting recovery of material
Managing new material in a way that loops in and make connections to material previously learned
